Sara Lou "Sallye" Hutchison

Sara Lou Genevieve “Sallye” Hutchison, 98, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at Lakeside Nursing Center. Sallye was born June 19, 1924, in Brookville, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marguerite Nieman, and her three sisters: Winifred (Minneman), Willye (DeWitt), and Joann (Peterson). Also preceding her in death, was her husband, Dr. James A. Hutchison, and two granddaughters: Brittnay Anne Hutchison and Kelsea Grace Hutchison.

Sallye is survived by two sons, Barry (Gail) Hutchison, of Jonesboro, and Brent (Jodi) Hutchison, of Jonesboro; and three grandchildren: Brennah (Stephen) Hutchison-Turner of Memphis; Cody (Molly) Hutchison of Lubbock, Texas; and Kendall Hutchison of Jonesboro.

Sallye worked as an administrative assistant in the Lawrence, Kansas courthouse before becoming a full-time mother to Barry and Brent. Later, she worked as a secretary and teacher’s aide in the Jonesboro Public Schools until she retired at age 65. She was a lifelong Lutheran and a member of the Our Savior Lutheran Church.

The visitation will be Thursday, September 29, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., immediately followed by services at 10 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Evangelist Bridgette Wright officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Burial will be private.
