Samuel Leon Mullins

Samuel Leon (Moon) Mullins passed from this life Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the age of 91 at the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice house surrounded by his daughters.

Sam was born February 19, 1927 to Samuel Lee Mullins and Cora Nancy Taylor. He marries his lifelong love, Bobbie Joan Schleiff in 1947 and they spent the next 70 years together until her death in January 2018.

Sam was a graduate of Jonesboro High School and received a degree in business from Arkansas State University. He served his country during WWII in the Navy and was stationed on the island of Guam. He was honorably discharged as a Coxswain V6 in 1946. He was a journeyman electrician and a 60-year member of the IBEW Union. He had the pleasure of seeing all 50 states and had a story to meet each adventure. He spent his 91 ^st birthday with his daughters and three granddaughters telling them his favorite story of working in Niagara Falls and looking at pictures of the falls today.

Samuel is preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Joan Mullins; a daughter, Marsha Ann Bond; his son, Samuel Leon “Bubba” Mullins, Jr; and his sisters, Lessie Stevenson and Norma Walker.

He is survived by his children, Roseann (Jim) Askeland, Suzanne Stearley, Carol (Allen) Trotter, and Anjanette Conaway, all of Jonesboro; his nephews, Dr. Richard Stevenson and Larry Walker; a niece, Susan West as well as eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the Flo & Phil Jones Hospice house for their kindness and the dignity given to their father. They would also like to thank the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26 for their visit and honorable tribute paid to their father. The family is truly grateful.

A Private family service will be held at the graveside on Friday, July 11, 2018.
