Sammy “Sam” Lyn Cossey, 77, of Jonesboro, passed away on April 6, 2026 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born on October 9, 1948 in Rector, AR to Junior Cossey and Vonda (Hardin) Boone.
A longtime Jonesboro resident, Sam was a member of Stone Ridge Church of Christ. He loved conversation and never met a stranger. He enjoyed watching Westerns and Cardinals baseball. Sam loved old cars, especially muscle cars, and enjoyed going to car shows. He also loved traveling and going on cruises. Above all else, Sam loved his family, making many memories visiting Branson together and eating at local Jonesboro restaurants.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Beth Cossey and aunt, Cleo McInturff.
He is survived by his children, Sarah Beth Campbell of Jonesboro, Matthew Lyn Cossey of Jonesboro, and Steven (Tracy) Cossey of Conway; grandchildren, Gage McMillin of Conway, Eli Campbell of Jonesboro, Kale Cossey of Jonesboro, Sydney Cossey of Conway, Brenley Cossey of Conway, and Evan Elizabeth Campbell of Jonesboro; brothers, Bill (Paula) Cossey of Jonesboro and Kenny (Dawn) Boone of Bartlett, TN; brothers-in-law, George (Sherri) Byers of Millington, TN and Sonny Simpson of Springfield, MO; several nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with Bro. Dick Blackford and Bro. John Mundy officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Log Cemetery with Eli Campbell, Kale Cossey, Gage McMillin, Peyton Ellis, Gavin Ellis, and Phillip Cassidy serving as pallbearers.
