Sammy Eugene Grigsby Sr.

July 19, 1944 — July 11, 2013

Sammy Eugene Grigsby Sr., 69, of Trumann, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He had lived in Trumann for 17 years, moving there from West Memphis. Sam was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. He retired from Colonial Bread. He was preceded in death by his father, J. B. Grigsby; mother, Chloe Kennedy Breeden Grigsby; brothers, Thedell, J.B. and Duane Grigsby; sister, Maudine Bryant.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Marion Grigsby, of the home; sons, Alexander Bryan Grigsby of Monroe, Arkansas; Sammy Eugene Grigsby, Jr. Trumann; Steven Carroll Grigsby (Melissa) of Arlington, Tennessee; brothers, James Breeden of Pocahontas; Charlie Grigsby of Aubrey, Arkansas; Billy Grigsby of West Memphis; Larry Grigsby of West Helena; sister, Mary Helen Freeman of Crawfordsville, Arkansas; grandchildren, Bryan Thomas Grigsby, Megan Williams, Parker Grigsby and Casey Grigsby; two step grandchildren; Emily and Jonathan Dewitt and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Trumann with Larry Loggins and Frank Bufford officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Nettleton Cemetery with Bill Wagner, Henry Secrease, Raymond Wells, Larry McMullin, Jim Richardson, Jackie McHalffey serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the men of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Monday night at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
