Sammie E. Noell, 88, of Jonesboro, died Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the King's Daughters and Son's Home in Bartlett, Tennessee.
Born in Trumann, Sammie lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was a retired commercial painter and was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and many outdoor activities including time at the lake. Sammie enjoyed growing a vegetable garden and sharing the bounty with his friends and family. Sammie could repair or fix most anything and spent much time tinkering in his shop. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sammie was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Noell, his parents, Delbert L. and Flora Cole Noell, and a brother, Raymond Noell.
Survivors include 2 daughters and son-in-law: Diane Hammell and Charolette and Dan Hesse all of Cordova, Tennessee;
1 brother and sister-in-law: Charles Edward and Letha Noell of Jonesboro;
3 grandchildren and their spouses: Barry and Krissi Hesse of Jonesboro, Kara and Jeff Money of Bartlett, and Stephen and Billie Jo Hammell of Trumann; and
6 great grandchildren: Hannah Hesse, Austin and Parker Money, and Lee, Raven and Breanna Hammell.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Pastor Russell Shewmaker officiating. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park with military honors.
Active pallbearers include Bud Farmer, Freddie Farmer, Gary Gambill, Bryan Brooks, Dennis Noell, and Bobby Martin. Honorary pallbearers include Curtis Farmer and Bobby Joe Farmer.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until service time in Emerson Chapel.
