Sammie Lee "Sarge" Cook

April 29, 1958 — December 3, 2023

“Sarge” Sammie Lee Cook, 65, of Highlands, Texas passed away December 3rd, 2023. He was born April 29th, 1958, to Sam and Virginia Cook of Jonesboro, Arkansas.

Sarge worked as an auto glass technician for over 30 years but those that knew him quickly realized that his car knowledge far exceeded the windshield business. He could diagnose a vehicle just by listening to it run over the phone, it was a gift. He also had a passion for horses that he shared with his late father and four children. He was never known to shy away from a trail ride, especially on a mule, and found so much joy watching his children compete in horseshows even if it meant late nights and long hauls.

Sarge had a few loves in life; trucks, a nice set of tools, Peter Pan peanut butter, comfy pajama britches, a good joke, watching tv with his pups, dancing with his grandbabies, an ice-cold Coca-Cola, and a slick cowboy hat but none of those came close to the love he had for his wife, Kelley Cook.

After raising their children and retiring from their careers they pursued a quieter life. Sarge and his wife Kelley moved to Texas where they made many friends and frequently spent time at the beach. They were truly soul mates that were completely content simply being in each other's company.

Sarge was a stranger to no one and found great purpose in sharing success’s, joys, and challenges of everyone around him. He was one of the good ones and will be missed by many.

The greatest advice was given by the greatest man and his family would like to extend it to you, “Don’t take any wooden nickels.” -Sarge Cook (1958-2023)

Sarge is survived and missed by his loving wife, Kelley; and his children, Michelle (Eric) Gremard of Jonesboro; Hunter Arnold of Jonesboro, Bri (Ben) Gallagher of Franklin, Tennessee; Forever cherished by his five grandchildren, Brooklyn Turnage, Cason Gremard, Mollie Gremard, Bennett Gallagher and Boston Gallagher; sister, Terri Jo (Lynn) Mitchusson of Oakland, Tennessee; brothers, Brad Hinson and Wes (Christy) Hinson of Paragould; Cindy Cook, mother of the late Shea Morgan Cook, and also Cici to Brooklyn Turnage, and Bennett Gallagher; nephews, Blake (Carly) Mitchusson of St. Louis, Missouri; Chase (Bethany Emerson) Mitchusson of Cleveland, Ohio; Josh Cook of Los Angeles, California; Kyle Hinson; Bradion Hinson both of Paragould; Cody Hinson of Georgia; niece, Kailey Hinson of Paragould; great-nephew Brody Mitchusson of St, Louis.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Shea Morgan Cook and brother, Shane Cook.
