Samella Hill, 72, of Jonesboro passed from this life on April 1, 2023 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born to Fred Peel Sr. and Mabel Ellison in Batesville, Arkansas on August 8. 1950. She accepted Christ at a very young age and attended the St Paul AME church. Samella enjoyed life, her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Peel Sr. and Mabel Ellison; four brothers, Paul Peel, Billy Peel, Fred Peel and Cleveland Peel; three aunts, Stella Watkins, Novella Neely, and Hilda Eslinger; one uncle, Louis Bone and one nephew Joseph Peel.
Samella is survived by four daughters, Vinetta (Rommie) Dixon, of Wynne, Arkansas; Dorian (Randy) Allen, Janice Lopez and Tammy Lasley; one son, Keith (Karen) Peel all of Jonesboro; two sisters, Debra (Jimmy) McCurn; and Minnie Fred Peel of Peoria, Illinois; bro brothers, Charles (Terry) Peel and Robert Peel both of Little Rock; fourteen grandchildren; twenty six great grandchildren; a special friend Shelby Riley of Jonesboro; a special cousin, Ruth Brown of Newport; and a host of other family and friends.
A Celebrating of Life and Homegoing Memorial service for Samella, will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Wanda Synder officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers are Jadarius Hill, Kowan Wright, Jerico Wright, Joshua Johnson, Broderick Johnson, Tevin Brown, Rodney Crite Jr., and Andre Crite. All other services will be private.
