Sally Anne Wofford

Sally Anne Wofford passed from this life on October 31, 2021 at the age of 91.  She was born December 5, 1929 in Wyatt Missouri to Paul and Margaret McGaughey and lived there until 1940 when the family moved to Weiner AR.  Sally attended Weiner High School and on December 22, 1946 of her senior year, she married her life-long sweetheart, Tommy Wofford who signed her final report card!  Sally was a great cook, great wife and great mother.  She loved being a homeroom mother and “second Mom” to all the boys in Lloyds class at Weiner.  She loved to drive fast cars, wear beautiful jewelry, and take care of her home.  She was very active in the rice-cooking competition at the Arkansas Rice Festival in Weiner and was an active member of the Weiner United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for many years.   Tommy and Sally loved to travel out West with friends.  The men would hunt and the ladies would shop!  She and her sister-in-law Cecelia often traveled to New York where they would enjoy going to plays, touring the City and of course SHOPPING!  Sally accompanied Tommy to air shows where he flew his restored TBM warbird, making life-long friendships along the way.  Sally and Tommy moved to St. Bernard’s’ Villa in recent years and enjoyed spending time together and with family.

Her husband Tommy; parents, Paul and Margaret McGaughey as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and June McGaughey of Milan Tennessee, precede Sally in death.  Also preceding her in death was her best friend Bobbie Lois Senteney of Weiner.

Left to cherish fond memories are her son, Lloyd (Linda) Wofford; two grandsons, Cameron (Ashlee) Wofford and Trey (Dana) Wofford and two great grandchildren all of Jonesboro.

Services will be under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home in Jonesboro on Tuesday, November 2.  Visitation will be held from 12:30 – 2:00 and the service conducted by Ray Keller will begin at 2:00. Interment will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner.  Pallbearers will include Tony Sullins, Gabe Tatum, James Grissom, Donnie Hauge, Barry Huber and Dwan Evins.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Fund in Weiner, the Weiner Fire Department or The Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
