S. Steve Hughes

S. Steve Hughes, 61, of Jonesboro, died December 26, 2010 at St. Bernards Medical Center. Born in Blytheville, he had lived in northeast Arkansas most of his life. He loved telling stories, watching old movies, especially westerns, and could tell you anything about wrestling. He loved to shop and go to flea markets. He was retired from the U.S. Army having served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He is survived by his loving companion of 17 years, Josephine Bryeans, Jonesboro; his children, David Riddle, Bono, William Riddle, Jonesboro, Nora Ammons, Ripley, Tennessee; brother, Wymond Walpole, Gates, Tennessee; 8 grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ninivah & Mary Walpole Hughes; brother, Ricky Carroll Hughes.

Graveside services, with full military honors, will be Thursday, December 30, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Halls Cemetery in Halls, Tennessee. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
