Ruth Cooper Morgan, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2009 at her home. Ruth was born August 16, 1923 in Melbourne, Arkansas to Alvie & Annie Belle Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Remel, Carl, and Charles Cooper; and one sister, Verl Rodden.
Survivors are her husband, Samuel F. Morgan, of the home; one sister, Bernice Ward of St. Charles, Missouri; and one brother, Paul Cooper of Jefferson City, Missouri.
She married Samuel Morgan in Piggott, Arkansas on May 26, 1948. She was a graduate of Greenway High School and Cosmetology School in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She worked in a small arms factory in St. Louis, Missouri as an inspector during World War II. She was a member of Normandy Road Baptist Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. She resided in Clawson, Michigan until retiring in Jonesboro in 1987. Ruth was a faithful fan of the Roundup at Brookland.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. at Piggott Cemetery with Jerry Morgan officiating. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at Hoggard & Sons Funeral Home in Piggott.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Susan G. Komen Headquarters.
