Ruth Holloway, 95, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Bernards Medical Center. She was born to the late Clarence and Lillie Bannister on July 29, 1924 in Cantwell, Missouri. Ruth was a member of Highland Drive Baptist Church and attended the Sunshine Sunday School Class. She was very active in many organizations and clubs throughout her life. Two honors she was very proud to have received were “Woman of the Year” in Corning, Arkansas and “Citizen of the Year” in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. In her spare time, Ruth enjoyed writing letters to her family and friends and reading her bible. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Bud Holloway; and siblings, Earl Bannister, Erma Cook, Dean Bannister, Roy Bannister, Christine Hardy, Lucy Forschee, Golda Clark, and Bess Sheppard.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Gail Speer (Robert) of Jonesboro; brother, Jerry Bannister (Velma) of Bonne Terre, Missouri; grandchildren, Rachel Statler (Todd) of Jonesboro and Hillary Starnes (Andy) of Jonesboro; great grandchildren, Riley Ruth Speer and Clint Speer. Ruth also leaves behind four bonus great grandchildren and several other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The visitation will be held prior to the service on Tuesday starting at 1:00 p.m.
The memorial service will start at 2:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10, 2019. Burial will be private
