Ruth Ella Robinson

Ruth Ella Robinson, 90, of Jonesboro, passed from this life on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Cave City, Ruth Ella moved with her husband and family to Jonesboro in 1961 where she entered Arkansas State College and earned a Bachelor's degree in education and began a teaching career in public school. During the subsequent summers, Ruth Ella returned to Arkansas State University and earned a Master's degree in education and continued her teaching career. Ruth Ella taught 6th grade at Valley View for 8 years, followed by teaching remedial reading at Douglas MacArthur Junior High School and concluded her 29-year teaching career at the Sixth Grade Academic Center.

Ruth Ella, along with her husband Robert, were charter members of Calvary Baptist Church in Jonesboro where she served as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and involved in hosting and coordinating church activities and celebrations.

Ruth Ella was a long-term member and past president of the Craighead County Retired Teachers Association, Delta Kappa Gamma Retired Teachers Sorority and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling and made a trip to the Holy Land, and enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends and family in her home. Ruth Ella was preceded in death by her parents: Ernest and Althell Crow Landers, her husband Robert Robinson, and a sister Yvonne (Jimmie) Green.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Linda and Charles Miller of Jonesboro;
son and daughter-in-law Mark and Karen Robinson of Benton;
brother and sister-in-law Charles and Anita Landers of Cave City;
7 grandchildren: Amanda Miller Herget (Ted), and John Miller (Evelyn) of Jonesboro, Alex Miller and Matt Miller (Jessica) of Fayetteville, and Reid, Rhett and Rose Elizabeth Robinson of Benton; and
7 great grandchildren: Harrison and Madison Herget, Matisse, Juniper, Cambire, Ivy, and Macie Miller; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, members of Calvary Baptist Church and a host of other friends.

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Friday at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Per the guidelines of the Arkansas Governor's Executive Order pertaining to indoor gatherings, a maximum of ten persons simultaneously may be in the chapel. The family requests that attendees wear protective masks at the visitation.

A graveside committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Cave City Cemetery with Dr. Jerry Medlock officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. At the graveside service, social distancing will be in effect and protective face masks requested. A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced by Emerson Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers include Alex Miller, Matt Miller, John Miller, Reid Robinson, Rhett Robinson, Ted Herget, Harrison Herget and Matisse Miller. Honorary pallbearers include Ruth Brodgon, Betty Moore, Sandra Green Hawkins, Sue Green Haggenmacher, Jennifer Green Mills, Sonya Landers Counts, Allen Landers, Donald and Myrtle Watkins, Dr. David Pyle, Dr. Donald Guinn, Pharmacists Toni Bari and Amy Gibson and members of Calvary Baptist Church.
