Rush Barrett, 80, of Jonesboro, died Sunday morning of natural causes at his home.
Rush was born in Memphis and lived most of his life in Jonesboro. He was a graduate of Jonesboro High School, Arkansas State University, and earned a Pharmacy degree from the University of Tennessee. Rush was retired from Eli Lilly Corporation where he worked for 30 years.
Rush was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving as a corpsman assigned to the U.S. Marines. He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Rush and Lucille Pratt Barrett.
Survivors include his wife, Betsy Barrett of the home,
2 sons, Joe Barrett of Jonesboro and Rusty Barrett of Lexington, Kentucky;
2 sisters, Ann Williams of Jonesboro and Nancy Wilson of Des Plaines, Illinois; and
1 granddaughter and her husband, Sophia and Nicholas Weeks of Fayetteville.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Chris Cooper, Rev. David Laverty and Rev. Jean Williams officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday evening, 5-7, at Emerson Funeral Home.
