Roy came into this world in a small humble doctor’s office in Marianna, Arkansas. He gave his life to Christ at the age of nineteen at which time he was baptized in Jesus’ name and filled with the Holy Spirit. During this time, he went to work for Southern Hardware (now House Hasson) in Helena, Arkansas of which he worked up from warehouse manager to office staff to regional sales. In regional sales, he found his niche. He loved his job and worked hard at it. He loved his customers, some of which he has had for forty years. He has been celebrated as a top salesman for many years. Many might wonder why he earned this distinction so many times throughout the years. It is very simple: he had a positive attitude, did his homework, personally knew his customers and their needs, and always focused on details. Steve Jobs said,” Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.” Roy found it on the road selling hardware each day. Everyone who rode Roy's route with him had an experience they never forgot. It was like watching a maestro play a violin–he just knew how to connect with customers and make the sale and make the customer and the company happy. He was a pro at it. He loved his wife and children and extended family also. He loved to get together with the boys and call the Hogs on Saturdays, grilling, camping with family, traveling to the beach, or playing cards. He could shoot the bull for hours and keep everyone laughing for hours. His famous motto was “I've never had a bad day yet!" His life reflected this thought each day, “Here I am world, let's make the most of it!” Anyone that knew him will never forget him. Roy’s strength, warmth, laughter, and easy smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
