Roy Lee Davis

Roy Lee Davis, 87, of Lake City, died Saturday, December 17, 2022, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center.  He was born in Colt, Arkansas, on August 26, 1935, to Gilbert and Lorine Davis.  He had lived in Lake City for the past 10 years, moving there from Jonesboro.  He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.  Roy’s favorite companion was his dog, Rocky. They spent many hours together until Rocky’s death last year.  Deer hunting was an enjoyable pastime.  Roy worked hard all of his life providing for himself and his family.  It was almost a family squabble when it came time to eat his wife’s Lemon Icebox Pie.  He was also a very good cook, in his own right.  His Biscuits and Gravy, and also hush puppies were the best around.  Roy was proud of the fact he was able to live independently.  His children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. The children called him dad, and the grands and greats called him Pap.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; son, Roy Dale Davis; grandson, Christopher Mitchell; and brother, Jerry Clegg.

Survivors include his daughters, Debbie Stegall; Vickie Emerson and husband, Charlie Emerson; Sheila Throgmartin, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Ronnie Clegg of Angleton, Texas; and Louis Clegg of Colt, Arkansas; grandchildren, Wes Ferguson, Casey Worlow, Aaron Stegall, Heather Ditto, Brandon Davis; and 9 great grandchildren.  A special thanks to the care given him by Dr. Danny Grubbs.
