Roy Boy Bryant, age 72, of Jonesboro, died Tuesday afternoon, December 6, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
Born in Caraway, Roy lived in Brookland several years before moving to Jonesboro in 1965. He was a farmer and operated Bryant’s Phillips 66 Stations in Brookland and Jonesboro for several years. He retired with over 25 years as an officer with the Arkansas State University Police Department.
Roy was a member of the Temple Baptist Church and served several terms as Vice President of the Northeast Arkansas Blue Grass Association. He was a 1954 graduate of Brookland High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. Roy Boy was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roy, Sr., and Deallie Summers Bryant.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Fredia Coy Bryant of the home;
1 Daughter and son-in-law: Peggy and Danny Woodard of Jonesboro;
2 Sons: Dennis Bryant, and
Glen (Fireball) Bryant, both of Jonesboro;
3 Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Elaine and Dean Nelms of Orlando, Florida,
Bo Peep Graham of Minden, Louisiana, and
Wyveta and Alvin Groves of Brookland;
2 Grandchildren: Jennifer Woodard of Melbourne, Florida, and
Brandon Woodard of Tuckerman; and
Several Nephews and Nieces.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jerry Jolly and Gerald Drope officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include: Kenneth Cooper, Mike Lane, Alan Groves, Mike Craig, Chris Groves, and Charles Long.
Honorary pallbearers include: Members of the Northeast Arkansas Blue Grass Association, the A.S.U. Police Department, Okie Brown and Bobby George.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 5-8 at Emerson Funeral Home.
