Ross "Dude" Elder

Ross “Dude” Elder, 88, of Brookland, died January 21, 2012 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was a farmer and had lived in the Brookland area for over 40 years. He was a member of Pine Log United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Elder of the home; son, Edgar Leo Elder, Harrison, Michigan; brothers, Bobby Elder and Lonnie Dale Elder, both of Brookland; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Reba Jane Fortner; 2 brothers, Charles Elder, Lestel Elder; and 2 sisters, Hazel Salings and Betty Johnson.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Emerson Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Pine Log Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

His grandchildren and spouses will serve as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gilbert Hickman, Hank Bracken, Eddie Watson, Ralph “Sonny” Crain, Mark Hathcoat, Dennis Lamberth, Bill McLaughlin, and Jim Hayes.

Visitation will be Monday 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
