Rose Marie Baker, 84, of Jonesboro died Saturday, December 7, 2013 at the Flo & Phil Hospice House.
Rose Marie was born February 14, 1929 in Columbia, MO to the late Chester and Ethel Belcher Howe. After high school she went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University and her Master's Degree in Library Science from the University of Mississippi before starting a long tenure in the Missouri and Arkansas school systems. She retired as the librarian for North Elementary School with the Jonesboro Public Schools. After retirement she helped organize the library and several mission programs at First Baptist Church. She had many interests but her favorites included traveling, reading, and studying her Bible. She especially loved to spend time with her family, and her furry companion Tom Cat.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Theodore Richard Baker; one son, Steve Baker and his wife Susan; one grandson, Zac Baker and his wife Amanda all of Jonesboro.
Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 2pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Dr. Bruce Tippit and Kathy Holler officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Visitation will be same day as service from 1pm until service time in the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
