Ronald Ferrell Erwin

Ronald Ferrell Erwin, 74, of Jonesboro passed from this life into eternity on March 2, 2021 at St. Bernards Hospital. He was born February 7, 1947 in East Chicago, Indiana to Ferrell and Naomi Eunice “June” Erwin.

Ron was a faithful follower of Jesus and a member of Central Baptist Church that spent his life in humble service to others. He had a passion for serving his local church as a teacher and deacon. Ron proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He spent many years working in manufacturing, including Lincoln Manufacturing. Ron was a member of the University Heights Lions Club, American Legion Post 21, and the Purchasing Association. He would later work in real estate with Fred Dacus and Associates. He loved people and was always genuinely interested in hearing your story. Ron loved his family fiercely. He was a devoted husband, father and his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Addison Gray Erwin; and mother and father-in-law, Juanita and Ray Robertson.

Ron is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Erwin; sons, Jeff Erwin (Paula) and Brian Erwin (Jackie) both of Jonesboro. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brant Erwin, Kobe Scrape, Emma Erwin, Jack Erwin, Bella Erwin, and Ferrell Ray Erwin. In addition, one brother, Lynn Erwin (Beverly) of Jonesboro and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Stevenson, Dr. Jaime Chavez, and the other doctors, nurses, and staff that helped care for Ron in the ICU at St. Bernards Hospital.

The visitation will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church.

The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Central Baptist Church with Archie Mason and Larry Bailey officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery with the active pallbearers being Jim Tubbs, Travis Stone, Charles Stone, Carl Looney, Norman Dickson, Robert McDaniel, Bill Wood, Wayne Smith, Jerry Younge, Bruce McAbee, Lynn Moss, Gary Moss, Nathan Thompson, Rick Grissom, and John Brown. The honorary pallbearers are the members of the University Heights Lions Club and the American Legion Post 21.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Bethany Christian Services, or the Central Baptist Missionary Fund.
