Romie Wesley (Dub) Mills, 75, of Jonesboro, died Friday, June 1, 2012, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.
Born in Jonesboro, Dub lived many years in the Valley View area before moving to Jonesboro 32 years ago. He was a 1955 graduate of Valley View High School where he was a member of the basketball teams. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving 6 years of active duty and attaining the rank of First Lieutenant following his successful completion of Officer Candidate School. He was a Paratrooper, member of the Army Pathfinders. He was an Army Commendation Medal and Expert in Infantry badge recipient.
Dub was a farmer near Otwell for 69 years and a certified licensed crop duster for 37 years. He was a member of Southwest Church of Christ and was preceded in death by his parents, Romie W. Mills, Sr. and Rose Bulla Mills, by 2 grandsons, David Mills and Ryan Mills, and by a sister, Selma Lee Ward.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ryan Mills, married February 15, 1956;
1 son and his wife, Wesley and Valerie Mills of Jonesboro;
1 daughter and her husband, Bridgette and Greg Arnold of Jonesboro;
1 brother, Michael Mills of Houma, Louisiana;
1 sister and her husband, Sharon and Jimmy Felkins of Bono; and
1 grandson, Mills Ryan Arnold of Jonesboro.

Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Jimmy Adcox and Chris Harral officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in McDaniel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers include Scotty Childers, Tommy Hendrix, David Wilkins, Lyndon Hall, Mark Mills, J.D. Salmons, Brent Stidman and Jerry Ryan.
Visitation will be Sunday evening, 5-8, at Emerson Funeral Home.
