Roger Whitaker, 73, of Jonesboro passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born June 29, 1952 in West Memphis to Eulala Whitaker and the late Robert Whitaker. Roger was a retired U.S. Army veteran who also served in the Arkansas National Guard. After retiring from the military, he worked as a carpenter for several years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working on old cars, being outdoors, listening to old records and spending time with his family.

In addition to his father, Roger was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Debra Brown Coggins.

Survivors include his mother, Eulala Whitaker of Jonesboro; his wife of 10 years, Alice Whitaker of the home; one son, Dale Whitaker of Jonesboro; two step-sons, Mickey (Elizabeth) Mullins of Jonesboro and Leland (Jordan) Mullins of Walnut Ridge; two step-daughters, Brenda DeTrana of California and Karen McKay of Cave City; two brothers, Charles (Cindy) Whitaker of Jonesboro and Tommy (Jan) Whitaker of Jonesboro; along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Thursday, May 14, 2026 at Gibson Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. with Leland Mullins and Charles Whitaker officiating.

Visitation will be at Emerson Funeral Home from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
