Roger Nelson, 56, of Bono, died Sunday at Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House. Roger was a mechanic/truck driver who loved hunting and fishing. He was a special person who loved being with his kids and grandkids and friends. He had said, “the most precious gift is the love of a true friend.” He was a believer and had everything right.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Terri Bounds Nelson, Bono; his mother, Irene Nelson, Pocahontas; daughter and son-in-law, Stephenie & Gary Meeker, Bono; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky & Vickie Nelson, Robby & Terry Nelson, all of Bono, David & Debbie Nelson, Florida; sisters and brother-in-law, Linda & Jr. Lee, Hoxie, Darlene Nelson, Illinois; his grandchildren, Matthew Nelson, Hunter Nelson, Austin Monteniszs, Lizzie Parker, Katie Meeker; mother-in-law, Granny B Bounds; a very special uncle, Earl Nelson; and a host of other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leland Nelson; son, Roger “Rod” Nelson, Jr.; brothers, Steve Nelson and Tommy Nelson; and sister, Betty Lynn Nelson.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Lorado Cemetery with Earl Nelson and Byron Griffey presiding. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Flo & Phil Jones Hospice House, 1148 E. Matthews, Jonesboro, Arkansas, 72401.
