Roger Wayne Evans, 74, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Born on November 10, 1950, in Harrisburg, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Arvil Evans and Sarah Clark McGuire.
Roger spent the last 40 years of his life in Jonesboro, where he built a legacy of love and devotion to his family and friends. He married his loving wife, Mary Jo Evans, in 1992, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories.
In addition to his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his brother, Dilbert Evans; one son, Rowdy Evans; and one stepdaughter, Ronda Jackson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Jo Evans, of the home; two sons, Rodney Evans (LaVonda) and Alex Evans; three daughters, Jennifer Phillips (Richard), Tabitha Evans, and Jessica Jones (Russ); two brothers, Greg McGuire and Grady McGuire (Regina); two sisters, Debbie Wilson and Brenda Mullins; 17 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Roger’s hobbies reflected his love of the outdoors and music. He found peace in fishing, running his beagles while rabbit hunting, and playing the guitar and saxophone. He also treasured time spent at home.
A memorial service to celebrate Roger’s life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Emerson Memorial Chapel, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
