Roger E. Blair, 65, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Little Rock.

He was born on September 5, 1949 in Albion, MI to the late Ernest and Ellen Smith Blair.  After high school he joined the United States Army where he served in the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1971.  While serving his country he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.  After the military he went to work for the United States Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement.  He lived in the Corning area until 2011 then moved back to Jonesboro. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. The Irish “old man” was fun loving, a good storyteller, and willing to help anyone in need.  He loved to watch old classic movies, NASCAR, music, fishing, and was a big supporter of the AR Game and Fish.  He was Scout Master for troop 138 for 6 years, and lifetime member of the VFW Post 1991.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a stepmother, Peggy Blair; and one stepbrother, Rick Smith.

He is survived by one son, Michael Blair; and one daughter, Jennifer (Vince) Brown; three grandchildren, Chance Curtner, Zoie Brown, Madelyn Brown; one great granddaughter, Luna Claire Brown all of Jonesboro; three brothers, Bob H. Blair of Little Rock, David H. Blair, and Richard D. Blair both of Jonesboro; one sister, Susan Blair Erwin of Corning; one step brother, Ron Smith of Jonesboro; one step sister, Joyce Seabaugh of Bono; and a host of other family and friends that he loved so much.

Visitation will be Monday evening from 5-8pm at Emerson Funeral Home.

All other services will be private.
