Rodney Lee Smith, 69, of Jonesboro, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 15, 1956, in Jonesboro to Willie and Helen Smith.
Rodney was a self-employed mechanic known for his skill, dedication, and hardworking spirit. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, which allowed him to travel the world while stationed overseas. He was of the Baptist faith.
Rodney had a deep love for fishing, listening to music, and following sports—especially as a devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Los Angeles Lakers. More than anything, Rodney cherished time spent with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Helen Smith, and his brothers, Eddie Smith and Vernon Smith.
Rodney is survived by his sons, Marcus (Danielle) Smith of Los Angeles, California, Raymond Foster of Los Angeles, California, and Brandon Smith of Jonesboro; his daughters, Tristana Bennett of Las Vegas, Nevada, Roxie Roebuck of Paris, California, Tyeisha Smith of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Bailey Smith of Jonesboro; his brother, Vincent Smith of Little Rock, Arkansas; and his sisters, Carol Smith of Jonesboro, Vicky (Carl) Major of Willingboro, New Jersey, and Toni Smith of Jonesboro. He also leaves behind many beloved grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of treasured friends.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Emerson Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Charles Coleman officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m. and concluding at the beginning of the service.
