Rodney Lee Harding

June 21, 1948 — October 3, 2017

Rodney Lee Harding, 69 of Jonesboro, passed from this life Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at his home.  He was born June 21, 1948 to Oliver and Cleo Harding in Yuma, Arizona.  Rodney graduated from Magnet Cove High School.  He played football at the University of Arkansas and he graduated from Henderson State University with his teaching degree.

Rodney spent many years in Malvern working at Harrison Candy Company before moving to Jonesboro.  As a businessman, he worked at Met Life.  Rodney dedicated many years to coaching youth in baseball and basketball.  Rodney was an active member in Rotary Club and Fellowship Christian Hunting Club.  His hobbies included deer hunting, wood working and playing golf.  Rodney, also known as “Pops” to his grandkids, loved spending time with them.  He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Oliver Harding.

Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Jonnas Harding of the home; 2 sons, Jon (Stefanie) Harding of Wilmington, North Carolina; Trey (Amy) Harding of Jonesboro and 1 daughter, Tanesha (Craig) Forrest of Little Rock; sister, Connie Rushing of Sulfur Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Kyler Harding, Alden Harding, Reece Forrest, Jack Henry Forrest, Molly Forrest and Chloe Harding.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Raymond O’Neal, Mark Bradley, J.R. Cockrell, Larry Griffin, Eldon Lingo and Johnny Harding.

The family will have a celebration of life for Rodney Saturday, October  7, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Third Baptist Church, 817 W. Young St., Malvern, Arkansas.  Tom Strike will be speaking.
