Rodger Dale Kiser, 64, of Bay, died Thursday at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He had lived most of his life in the Jonesboro area and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bay. Rodger was a member of the Craighead County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol. He was also a member of the Jonesboro Masonic Lodge #129 and as 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Rodger helped children with the Miracle Rodeo and with various churches in Northeast Arkansas. He was an accomplished singer and was active in many church choir productions including the Living Christmas Tree. Rodger competed in many team penning rodeo events and had a love for horses. As a certified auctioneer for many years, he worked for in estate selling and helping local organizations with fund raising auctions. Rodger was a history buff and became involved with Civil War Reenactments and was a collector of vintage firearms. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Kiser and his grandparents.
Survivors include his wife of three years, Sherry Kiser, of the home; son, Shane Gulley; daughters, Shannon Dawson and Andrea Adams (Johnny Robertson) ; his father, Gene Kiser, all of Jonesboro; brothers, Gary Kiser of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Mike Kiser of Hendersonville, Tennessee; sister, Sheila Butler of Horseshoe Bend; grandchildren, Christa, Emily, Evan, Colton, Dalton, Chloe, Zoe, and Jacob; a special mother-in-law, Dorothy “Ms Pete” Webb; and a multitude of family and friends who loved Rodger very much.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday at the Bay First Baptist Church with Danny Taylor officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow with special honors at Trinity Cemetery with the Craighead Mounted Patrol serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be from 5-7 Saturday night at Emerson Funeral Home.
