Robert Worthington

October 22, 1932 — September 1, 2011

Robert Worthington, 78, of Trumann, died Thursday, September 01, 2011, at St. Bernard’s Medical Center. He moved to Jonesboro in 1958 from Swifton, Arkansas and was a member and deacon of the Alsup Baptist Church. In the 1960s he was a flight instructor for many local professionals and served in the US Army during the Korean War. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda; his parents, two brothers and three sisters.

Survivors are his sons, Bobby Worthington and wife Becky of Dallas, Texas; Kenny Worthington and wife Deborah of Cord, Arkansas; Travis Worthington and Fiancé Shannon Rennicke of Jonesboro; sisters, Mary Hester Young, of St. Louis, Missouri; Jean Gentry, of Bald Knob, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Bobby Worthington officiating and Kenny Worthington as Eulogist. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Wesley Worthington, Joshua Worthington, Shane Worthington, Bryant Worthington, Zachary Stokes, Daniel Russell, Robert J. Nanny and Jeramie Ross serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Worthington, Mitch Worthington, Gary Worthington, Matthew Worthington, Jerry Vinson, Larry Vinson, Robert Vinson, Wayne Vinson and Rick Vinson. Visitation will be from 6-8 Saturday night at Emerson.
