Robert Wilburn Spencer, 80, of Memphis, died Wednesday at his home. Born in Bay, he had lived in Memphis for 32 years. He was a member of the 1947 class of Bay High School and had many interests in life. He served his country as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After his discharge, he worked for the postal service in Springfield, Illinois and worked as an insurance agent for Farm Bureau. He worked for a time for the Red Cross and farmed a bit. He loved buying and selling antiques and going to flea markets and swap meets.
He is survived by his children, Scott Spencer and Mitzi Taylor, both of Bay; his brother and sister, Verlon Spencer, Bay and Della Nelms, Conroe, Texas. He is also survived by his 2 cats, Heidi and Little Bit.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore & Patty Blalock Spencer.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Emerson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be Saturday 10 – 12 at Emerson Funeral Home.
