Robert Scott Spencer

July 14, 1961 — January 22, 2013

Robert Scott Spencer, 51, of Bay, died Tuesday at his home of natural causes.

Born in Springfield, Illinois, Scott lived much of his life in Memphis before moving to Bay 4 years ago. He was a 1979 graduate of Marion High School and attended Christian Brothers University. He worked as an Inventory Quality Control Specialist in the airline and truck parts industry.

Scott was inducted into the Hernando-DeSoto Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2004. He has been a season ticket holder for the Memphis Redbirds for 14 years and a member of the Hernando-DeSoto Baseball League Hall of Fame committee. He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Wilburn Spencer and Mary Hickman Jeter.

Survivors include his sister, Mitzi Taylor of Bay. Also surviving are numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and friends, also known as his Band of Brothers.

A memorial service day and time will be announced at a future date.
