Robert Woodrow Norvell

Robert Woodrow Norvell, 75, passed away at St. Bernard’s Hospital on August 2, 2024. He was born on May 7, 1949 in Memphis, Tennessee to Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson Norvell (Robbie Opal Holmes Norvell).

Robert attended Westside High School, Union University, Memphis Theological Seminary, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He served as an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in Arkansas and Tennessee, and moved to Jonesboro in 1980 where he worked as an investment advisor for 40 years.

Robert enjoyed reading, history, paleontology, music, cycling, hiking, fishing, gardening, working on numerous church mission projects, and watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Each year he looked forward to family gatherings and the arrival of the first spring flowers.

Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Henson Norvell; son, Paul Norvell of Strawberry; daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Norvell and Jacob Gambill of Jonesboro; sister, Denise Kirk (Bob) of Bartlett, Tennessee; brother, Walter Norvell (Mary) of Bull Shoals, and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents Robbie and Woodrow Norvell.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at 10 am at First Presbyterian Church in Jonesboro, Arkansas with private burial to follow at 2 pm at Elmwood Cemetery in Memphis.
