Robert "Bob" Kitterman

Robert "Bob" Kitterman, 88, of Bay, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at NEA Baptist Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Robert was born in Bay on September 24, 1930 to V.T. and Maude Holt Kitterman and lived most of his life in Bay. He was a graduate of Bay High School and earned Bachelor and Master degrees from Arkansas State University and a Doctorate at the University of Texas. Robert taught many years in education: 14 years at Bay High School, 10 years in the Panama Canal Zone and 23 years at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Memphis. Following his retirement from St. Joseph, Bob joined the faculty at Arkansas State University and taught night classes into his eighties before retiring a second time.

Robert served 12 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserves and was a member of First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class. Robert was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity at ASU and was a past member of the Bay Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bettye Jo Kitterman.

Survivors include cousins and close friends: Barry and Barbara Vincent along with their daughter Allison Webb. Also surviving is Robert's feline companion, "Ruth."

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Emerson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ron Langston officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Pallbearers include Barry Vincent, Elbert Bradford, Seth Southard, Quillon Vincent, David Halfacre and David Wilson.
