Robert Hunter, 86, of Jonesboro, died Monday, February 4, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.
A native and life-long resident of Jonesboro, Mr. Hunter was a retired building superintendent for Cooper Construction Company in Jonesboro. He was a member and elder at First Christian Church in Jonesboro and a U.S. Marines veteran of W.W. II.
During his career, Robert supervised construction of many buildings in the state of Arkansas including buildings on the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville campus and the Mercantile Bank Building in Jonesboro. He was a member of University Heights Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert Cater and Bessie (Lunsford) Hunter,
two brothers, Jasper Hunter and James Altman Hunter, and a sister, Magnolia Hancock.
Survivors include:
His wife of 67 years: Bea Hunter;
A daughter and son-in-law: Peggy and Allan Port of Houston, Texas;
two grandchildren: Hunter and Maggie Port, both of Houston, Texas;
He is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Coleman and Connie Berry, both of Jonesboro, a brother, Roy Hunter of Wynne, and several nephews and nieces.
Private funeral services will be held Saturday morning in Jonesboro with Dr. Jerry Wilcox officiating.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon at 1:00 at First Christian Church,
901 S. Main Street, Jonesboro, 72401.
