Robert Ellis (Doodle) Hancock

Robert Ellis (Doodle) Hancock, 74, of Jonesboro, died Friday, January 28, 2011 at his home. He had lived most of his life in the Bay and Jonesboro area and was a member of the Nettleton Baptist Church and a member of the Men 3 Sunday School Class. He worked in Sales at American Electric for 14 years, and then started working at Jonesboro Bearing and Supply for 32 years, retiring at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Aaron and Lossie Bell Barrett Hancock and one brother, Guyther Eugene (Guy) Hancock.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Karen Mize Hancock, of the home; daughters, Rhonda Annette Clifton of Jonesboro; Rene’e Ann Cobern and husband, Correy of Pontotoc, Mississippi; grandchildren, Meghan Ashley Clifton, Jacob Ryan Clifton, and Jade Arden Cobern.

Funeral services will be 2:00 Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Emerson Memorial Chapel with Reverend Stan Ballard officiating with Emerson Funeral Home in charge. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery with Johnny Rickman, Bob Moneyham, Jim Isbell, Royce Leonard, Dewayne Lumbeck and Mike Primm serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Nettleton Baptist Church Men 3 Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 5-7 Saturday night at Emerson.
