Robert H. Carlisle

Robert Hugh Carlisle, 86, of Jonesboro, passed away Monday, January 13, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Born in Pope, Mississippi, Robert Hugh lived in Sledge, Mississippi before moving to Jonesboro 47 years ago. Bob worked as an insurance adjuster for General Adjustment Bureau before starting and operating Carlisle Adjustment Company until his retirement.

Bob was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of W.W. II serving in Japan, and was an active member of First Christian Church where he served on the Administrative Board. He enjoyed gardening and sharing the fruits and "vegetables" of his labor with family, friends and church members. Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He had a tremendous sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Bob was preceded in death by his first wife, Dolores Thomas Carlisle, grandson Robert Christiansen "Chris" Carlisle and his parents, Robert L. and Vera Carlisle.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Reddmann Carlisle of the home;

3 sons, Leon Carlisle (Heide) and Wayne Carlisle (Pam) all of Jonesboro and Jimmy Carlisle (Brenda) of Alexander;

2 daughters, Sandy Callewaert (Jim) of Kennett, Missouri, and Linda Fairbourne (Mike) of Glen Rock, N.J.;

1 sister, Mary Jenkins of Memphis;

10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. in First Christian Church with Bro. Jerry Wilcox and Bro. Bob Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in Philadelphia Cemetery.

Pallbearers include all grandchildren: Matt Carlisle, Adam Carlisle, Travis Carlisle, Stephen Carlisle, Jacob Callewaert, Sean Callewaert, Deanna Fairbourne, William Fairbourne and Christian Fairbourne.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at First Christian Church.
