Robert "Bobby" Allen Linn

Robert Allen Linn, better known as Bobby Linn, 93, of Weiner, Arkansas, was born June 1, 1932, and went on to seek his reward with Christ the Lord on September 30, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby never met a stranger. He had a gift for walking right up to someone, sticking out his hand, and cheerfully saying, “Hi, I’m Bobby Linn—L-I-N-N—from Weiner, Arkansas.” Before long, he’d find something they had in common and strike up a conversation. Over his 93 years, Bobby met people from every walk of life and gathered countless friends, each of whom knew how deeply he valued them.

Bobby cherished his church family at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Weiner, AR, where he served faithfully as an elder, board member, and teacher. He never missed an opportunity to witness for Christ, and only the Lord knows how many lives he touched and guided to Him.

Service to his community was a cornerstone of Bobby’s life. He served as a board member of both the Poinsett Credit Association and Weiner Riceland Foods. Generosity was at the heart of who Bobby was. Whether spending days operating his backhoe, clearing timber, or digging a septic tank for a family member’s home, he gave freely of his time. Just as important to him was giving his presence—visiting for hours with friends who needed company or advice.

Bobby loved the outdoors, especially hunting. Duck hunting was his passion, squirrel hunting a family tradition, and for many years he traveled to South Dakota for pheasant hunts, forming lifelong friendships along the way. His family will fondly remember the big squirrel dinners he provided—complete with mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, and yeast rolls.

In his later years, Bobby proudly bought an iPhone. Though he only mastered making and answering calls, that little phone brought him great joy. Staying connected with family and friends was one of his favorite pastimes. His daughter Melanie treasures the memory of his daily calls. No matter the time, when she answered “Hello,” Bobby would always reply with a cheerful, “Good morning!”—a greeting that never failed to make her laugh.

Among Bobby’s greatest joys were his grandsons, Revel and Asher Griffith. He adored them and served as a role model through his Christian values, storytelling, and love of life. Together they enjoyed talking, making music, singing, skeet shooting, and working with tractors and backhoes. Bobby’s stories of his life—always told with spirit—will remain a treasured gift to them.

Music was woven into Bobby’s life. From a young age, when his mother, Mary Linn, taught him to play guitar by ear on an instrument gifted by her twin sister, Aunt Poss, music was his constant companion. He loved to sing—whether sad country songs or old church hymns. At family gatherings, his voice and guitar would bring everyone together in song.

Above all, the great love of Bobby’s life was his wife, Ruth. Together for 70 years and married for 69, he always said she was “the cat’s meow” from the moment he met her. Their life together was built on love, faith, prayer, and partnership. Bobby never missed a chance to flirt with Ruth, offer a sweet word, or proudly let everyone know how much he loved her. Their marriage was a shining example of devotion and joy.

Bobby will be remembered for his big smile, his warm and caring personality, his quick wit, and his slightly sarcastic sense of humor—appreciated by most, though not always by all! He brightened every room he entered and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and friendship.

He was preceded in death by his father, William R. Linn; mother, Mary E. Linn; brother, Jimmy Linn; and sisters, Joan Corman and Louise Nuttle.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth U. Linn; daughters, Micha (Jeff) Linn-Morrison and Melanie D. (John) Adams; grandsons, Asher L.B. Griffith and Revel R.I. (Olivia Stewart) Griffith; sisters, Ruth Manzer and Sara (David) Asher; brother, Mark (Alycia Raines) Linn; and many nieces and nephews.

Though Bobby will be deeply missed, we rest in the assurance that he has joyfully joined Jesus in his eternal home. Until we meet again, “Good morning, Bobby.”

Visitation will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Weiner Christian Church, with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. officiated by Pam Hogue. Burial will take place afterwards at Walker Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Tucker McNeil, Asher Griffith, Revel Griffith, Matt Casciano, Andrew Reynolds, and Thomas Moore. Honorary pallbearers include Doug Dadlow, Mark Linn, and David Asher.
