Robert "Bob" Thompson

Robert “Bob” Thompson, 76, of Jonesboro, died Monday, October 24, 2022, at NEA Baptist Medical Center. He had lived in Jonesboro since 1975, moving here from Blytheville.   He was born on May 5, 1946 to Ernest and Evelyn Thompson in Mountain Top, Arkansas.  Bob was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where he served many rolls n the Vestry including Senior Warden.  Most members of the church will attest to his ability to make incredible biscuits.  His baking skills were well known.  He loved spending time with his wife, kids, grandkids and friends.  One of his hobbies he enjoyed was being outdoors.  Hobbies such as hunting and fishing.  In recent years, he was a Member of the Optimist Club and the JHS Booster Club.  He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Pat, Dorothy Ann, and Alice.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Kitty Thompson, of the home; sons, Steve Thompson and his wife, Laura of Jonesboro; Matt Thompson and wife, Lisa of Austin, Texas; sisters, Wilma Weston of Springdale, Arkansas; Linda Barker of Naples Idaho; grandchildren, Abby Thompson, Drake Thompson, Aidan Thompson, Jackson Thompson and Amelia Thompson.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on 3:00 P.M, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at St. Mark’s Episcopal church with Rector Kevin Gore officiating and Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  A reception will immediately follow the interment in the St. Mark’s Columbarium. There will be no public visitation.
