Robert Allan (Bob) Hackney, 78, of Jonesboro passed away on April 15, 2015, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on September 19, 1936, to the late Oscar L. and Vera Berry Hackney. He had lived in Jonesboro for 13 years, moving here from Osceola, Arkansas.
Bob was formerly sales manager for Osceola Foods and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesboro. He graduated from Memphis State University, where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and played on the baseball team. He loved all sports and was never happier than when playing golf or watching his grandsons participate in sports.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Suzanne Rothrock Hackney of the home, Son; Mark Edward Hackney and wife Kenda of Jonesboro, Daughter; Melissa Leigh Hackney Robson and husband Jamie of Olive Branch, Mississippi, and 2 grandsons; Brent Austin Hackney and Hughes Riley Robson.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 17, 2015, in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Patty Soward officiating. Burial will be private with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday, April 17, 2015, in Emerson Memorial Chapel.
