Mr. Riley James Sawyer,16, of Lake City, Arkansas, departed this life on July 14, 2022. He was born June 3, 2006 in Nashville, TN, and attended Brookland High School.
Riley was Corporal in Brookland’s JROTC program, he cared so much about being in the JROTC and wanted to join the United States Army. His JROTC family meant the world to him. He enjoyed fishing, riding his bike, playing Xbox, coloring, drawing, playing Chinese Checkers with his grandpa, and hanging out with his friends. Family meant everything to Riley, and was a fun outgoing kid that loved living life to the fullest.
He is preceded in death by one grandma, Lori Sloan; one uncle, Mike Vanoven; one great-grandpa, William Chapman.
Riley is survived by; mother, Mary (Phill Bobbitt) Sawyer of Lake City; grandparents, Terry “Pappy” Sawyer of Nashville, TN, Larry “Pa” Bobbitt of Jonesboro, Brenda “Granny” Moffitt of Bono, Scott (Kim) Moffitt of Marmaduke; one uncle, William Quijano of Seattle, WA; three aunts, Jaclyn (J.T.) Evans of Lake City, Angela (Jason) Walker, Anna (Nick) Sanders, Jenn (Matt) Mask; one great-grandmother, Mary Lou Mullen; godparents, Shera “Godmomma” (Uncle Josh) Hays; and a life time of family and friends.
Friends may visit at Emerson Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, July 20, 2022 beginning at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Emerson Memorial Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked to please consider donations to the Brookland’s JROTC program at Brookland’s High School.
