Rick Andrew Porter Sr., 68, of Jonesboro passed from this life on May 12, 2020. He was born to Cecil and Nettie Porter on September 19, 1951 in Lake City. Rick graduated from Lake City when they were still known as the Catfish in 1970. He was the State’s leading scorer in Basketball for three straight years. Rick was a humorous, polarizing man who could always be depended on to tell a great story. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, watching sports, playing poker, and playing golf. However, Rick enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren most of all.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Nettie Porter.
Rick is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda (Farmer) Porter; sons, Ricky Porter Jr., Dillon “Pepper” Porter, and Adam Farmer; daughters, Tammi Tusieseina and Pamela James; sister, Loretta Nelson; grandchildren, Cheyenne Rooks, Mattie James, Josh James, Gracie James, Ricky “Drew” Porter III, Haley Brand, Adalia Porter, Adam Farmer, and Seth Farmer. Rick also leaves behind several great grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Oaklawn Cemetery with Mike Hamilton officiating.
