Richard L Thurman

Richard L Thurman, 88, of Jonesboro, passed away on October 17, 2024, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born in Beloit, WI, on December 16, 1935, to the late Francis and Muriel Thurman. In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Thurman, and stepson, Sean Shawver.

Richard was a proud Christian and a caring man. He was a giver, not a taker. In his younger days, he piloted private planes. Richard loved being a pilot, just like his father. Outside of flying airplanes, he was an avid skier and hunter. Richard's favorite part of skiing was the downhill jump. As he grew older, he found peace in the small things. Whether meeting friends for breakfast every Thursday or sitting quietly on the front porch watching animals, Richard was content with life, finding joy in the simple moments and the company of loved ones.

Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Thurman; daughter Kay Wanbaugh (Greg); sons Rich Thurman (Cheryl) and Michael Thurman; stepson Marc Shawver; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
