Richard Lee Rutherford

Richard Rutherford, 77, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2023 at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rutherford was born June 22, 1945 to the late Hubert L. and Anna L. “Ann” Rutherford of Jonesboro.

Richard was quick witted with a wonderful sense of humor and an excellent memory. He loved nature and over the years he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and duck hunting. Richard also loved spending time with his best “fur-buddy”, Roscoe. He also loved spending time with family and friends; including his Bay High School classmates. Richard was a retired residential building contractor and built many beautiful homes throughout the Jonesboro area.

Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by his parents Hubert L. and Anna L. Rutherford; two sons Scott Rutherford and Matthew Rutherford; a nephew Kirk Davis; and his mother-in-law, Gladys Kinsall.

Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Debbie Kinsall Rutherford of the home; one brother, Jimmy Rutherford of Jonesboro; three sisters, Lavera Davis, Barbara Dungan, and Olivia Hall, all of Jonesboro; sister-in-law Carol Kinsall McCarthy of Jonesboro; and several nephews, nieces, cousins, and host of friends.

Richard will be greatly missed by his family, but he leaves us all with many wonderful, fond, memories to treasure.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are as follows: Shannon Hall, Jan Dungan, Blake Rutherford, David Folsom, Brian Richardson, Scott Strong, Allen Milligan, and James Brewington.

Funeral services will be Monday, February 6, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home 1629 E. Nettleton Ave., Jonesboro, AR with Pastor Grey Falanga of Walnut Street Baptist Church officiating. Family visitation 12:30-1:00 pm, friends’ visitation 1:00-2:00 pm with services to begin immediately after. Interment will be at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery, 3910 Harrisburg Rd. Jonesboro, AR.
