Richard Morris Nutt

October 3, 1936 — March 26, 2023

Richard Morris Nutt, 86, of Bono passed from this life on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home surrounded by family. He was born to Gordon and Sophronia Nutt on October 3, 1936 on the Greene/Craighead County Line. Richard graduated from Greene County Tech High School and attended Arkansas State University. He owned and operated Nutt Family Farms with his wife, Ginny, in the Fontaine area. Richard and Ginny were married on February 4, 1963 and have been married for 60 years.

Richard served on the Riceland Foods Board, Jonesboro Grain Dryer Board, Security Bank Board of Directors, and the Greene County Tech School Board. He was also a Member of Lorado Baptist Church.  Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Sophronia Nutt.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Virginia “Ginny” Nutt of the Fontaine Community; sons, Richard Raney Nutt (Jayne) of Paragould and Morris Gordon Nutt (Kelly) of Cordova, Tennessee; sister, LaVerne Wilson and her children: Deborah French, Emily Lounge, Valerie Keating, John Wilson, and Scott Wilson; grandchildren, Richard Tyler Nutt (Jessica), Mackensie Nutt Davis (Clayton), Kevin Lawson Nutt, and Kathleen Hayes Nutt; and great grandchildren, Amelia Kate Nutt, Jack Gordon Nutt, Georgia Jane Nutt, and Selah Grace Davis (Due in April).

The family would like to share their appreciation to the many caregivers who have helped the family through the years: Michelle Knight, Kathy Robinson, Ashlyn Knight, Kandra Knight, Sema Cordova, Carlos Mancilla, Earnesto Mancilla, Tammy King (his Nurse), and Home Healthcare Professionals.

The visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Emerson Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 with Gary Patterson and Kenny Johnson officiating at Lorado Cemetery. The active pallbearers are Buck Lawson, Kevin Newsom, Adam McClelland, David Hodges, Scott Gibson, Dustin Engler, and Jack Dalton. The honorary pallbearers are Willis Alderson, Frank Sloan, John Fender, Danny Rice, Jim Wilcox, Herbert Miller, and Carlos Eason.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
