Richard H. Holler, Jr.

June 23, 1948 — January 23, 2014

Richard Howard Holler, Jr., 65, of Jonesboro, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2014, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House.

Richard was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi, and grew up in Crossett, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Arkansas State University with a degree in Radio-Television. Richard worked for Radio station KASU and KAIT-Television and was an agent for Fred Dacus Real Estate.

Richard was a U.S. Army veteran, serving 5 years in the Signal Corps. He was stationed at Ft. Gordon, Georgia, Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey and Heidelberg, Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1975 with the rank of Captain.

Richard was currently a member of Walnut Street Baptist Church but was a past member of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as Scoutmaster for Scout Troop 2. He was a member of the Jonesboro Rotary Club for many years.

Richard enjoyed researching genealogy, visiting with family and friends and annual fishing trips to Rockbridge, Missouri with Larry Fugate and Howell Westbrook. And too, he enjoyed Wednesday night movies with the boys.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Lou Holder Holler. Survivors include his 2 children: Richard Jeremy Holler (Tina) of Jonesboro and Ryan Elizabeth Holler (Lindsey) of Decatur, Illinois;

3 grandchildren, Travis Holler, Ambria Holler and Ruth Holler;

1 sister, Margie Walling of Palmer, Alaska;

his wife of 5 years, Pam Martin Holler of Jonesboro and nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, 701 S. Main St., Jonesboro, with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will be private.

Larry Fugate, Howell Westbrook, Andy Martin and Barry Martin will be honorary pallbearers.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00-2:00 at the church.
