Richard Eugene Dunford

Richard Eugene Dunford, age 86, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior the morning of April 27, 2023 at his home in Jonesboro, Arkansas.

He was born in Detroit, Michigan on January 22, 1937, one of seven siblings to Oscar and Velma Dunford.

Upon graduating high school Richard enlisted in the Navy, serving our country for 21 years as HMC (Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman). After retiring from the Navy he then worked as a Patient Rights Advocate at UC San Diego.

Richard was active within the church and loved being surrounded by family and close friends. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking and hosting large family gatherings. He liked being outside tending to his many plants, singing hymns and the songs of his youth.

He is survived by his sisters Jaunita Appel and Marion Brannon. The beloved father of Cheryl Padilla, Richard Dunford II, Cynthia (Paul) Crockett, Dawn (Darren) McClure and Justin (Maggie) Dunford. Along with 10 grand Children, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who got to know him.

A memorial service will be held on June 9, 2023, at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in Birdeye, Arkansas starting at 2:00 p.m.
