Richard “Doyle” Dorton, 83, of Jonesboro passed from this life on Friday, December 3, 2021 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born to the late Albert and Bertha Dorton on June 3, 1938 in Jonesboro. Doyle was an electrician for over 40 years, he finished his career working for Nettleton Public Schools. He enjoyed spending time on the farm keeping an eye out for the occasional deer or animal. Doyle loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Doyle is preceded in death by his siblings, Russell Dorton, Howard Dorton, Monroe Dorton, Vera Moore, Zelma Pardew, Orma Vincent, Dorothy Rainbolt, and Betty Watkins; half-brother, Lloyd and half-sister, Elsie.
Doyle is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dorton, daughter, Ricki Smith; son, Greg Dorton; grandchildren, Korey, Tyler (Amanda) and Trystan; great grandchildren, Kendyl and K.J. all of Jonesboro. Doyle also leaves behind many loved nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Emerson Funeral Home.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Union Grove Baptist Church, 5217 Richardson Drive, Jonesboro, Arkansas 72404.
