Richard Cashmer

Richard Cashmer, 70, of Prattsville passed from this life Thursday, August 3, 2017 at The Veterans Hospital in Little Rock. He was born on August 16, 1946 in Cornell, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Claud Cashmer. Richard spent the last 11 years residing in Prattsville after spending a majority of his life in Benton, Arkansas.

Richard was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a sniper and received a Purple Heart for his service. He achieved a Doctoral Degree in Construction Science. Richard loved working with his hands and just living out in the country. He was a devoted friend and most of all Richard took care of his family.

In addition to his grandparents, Richard was preceded in death by his mother, brothers, and sisters.

Richard is survived by two sons: Derek (Demetra) Cashmer of Jonesboro and Richard Petty; one daughter: Amy Thompson (Andy Fortner) of Benton; and four grandchildren.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Liberty Cemetery with Topper Killough officiating and with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
