Richard D. Bates

Richard D. Bates, 73, of Bono died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Southern, Illinois on April 30, 1941 to the late George and Rada Bates. Richard had lived in Bono since 1979, moving there from Glendale, Arizona. He was a retired bus driver and mechanic for 27 years for the Westside School and of the Baptist belief.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his daughter; Kimberly Lynn Bates and 3 brothers; Charles, Bob and William Bates.

Richard is survived by his ex wife; Linda Bates of Jonesboro.

Daughters: Lisa Bierstedt of Bono and Nancy Ward of Jonesboro.

3 grandchildren: Sarek Bierstedt, Zachary Bierstedt both of Bono and Logan Ward of Jonesboro.

Sisters; Sharon Knott (Dan) of Kentucky and Gloria Stout (Marion) of Arkansas.

Also a special thanks to the Dierksen Hospice for their kindness and care giving especially nurses Terri Doyle and May Walker.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Bill Becker officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
There will be no visitation.
