Rhoda White Smith, 80, of Jonesboro passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at NEA Hospital.
She was born in Memphis on April 11, 1934 to the late J.T. and Virginia Watson White. She attended Jonesboro Schools and All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, MS. She attended Southwestern (Rhodes College) in Memphis, where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and a music major. She was a member St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and was the Organist for the church. She loved working with several different charities throughout her career, and was a lifetime member of Jonesboro Auxiliary. She was the President of R.T. K. Inc., and was Co-owner of J.T. White Lumber Company in Jonesboro.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles B Smith Jr; one sister, Margaret White Petrey.
She is survived by two daughters, Margie Jayroe Kemper and husband Ray, Ginny Jayroe Tubbs and Husband Rick; one son, Jack C. Jayroe III all of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Brandon Tubbs, Lindsey Tubbs Wilcox and husband Todd, Laurie Kimmel all of Jonesboro, Justin Jayroe of Memphis, Skyler Jayroe, Joshua Jayroe, and J.T. Jayroe all of Texas; four great grandchildren, Heath and Seth Wilcox of Jonesboro, Noah Guy and Kaydence Kemper of Trumann.
Funeral service will be Tuesday at 2:30pm in the Emerson Memorial Chapel with Father Jesse Perkins officiating. Private burial will directly follow with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Brandon Tubbs, Justin Jayroe, Todd Wilcox, Tony McDonald, Skyler Jayroe, and Bill Petrey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joshua and J.T. Jayroe, Heath and Seth Wilcox, Jerry Touchstone, Danny Mounce, Robert Jones, Brent Stidman, and Pete Murphy.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm until service time at the Emerson Memorial Chapel.
