Rhea Starr, Jr.

February 14, 1924 — February 26, 2013

Rhea Starr, Jr., 89, of Jonesboro, died Monday, February 25, 2013, at his home.

Born in Imboden, Rhea lived in Pocahontas before moving to Jonesboro in 1967. He was a retired property manager and realtor with Guaranty Real Estate in Jonesboro. Before working with Guaranty, Rhea worked several years for the Star Herald Newspaper in Pocahontas.

Rhea was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II and was of the Baptist belief. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhea, Sr. and Ellen Phillips Starr, 2 sisters, Lillian Hackworth and Virginia Castleman, and a granddaughter, Ashley Webb Bailey.

Rhea was the most kind, loving, and generous man. If you knew him, you loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Gilley Starr of the home;

5 daughters and sons-in-law: Sharon and Mack Palmer of Jonesboro, Kaye and Randy Ferguson and Bren and Steve Watkins of Bono, Karen and Tommy Eakins of Lake City, and Lisa and Tommy Kennedy of Jonesboro;

1 step daughter, Sherrie Ellis of Monette;

3 sisters: Mary Pope of Pocahontas and Ruth (Cecil) Potter and Roberta Stephens, of Imboden;
2 brothers: Herb (Elsie) Starr of Jonesboro and Everett (Hazel) Starr of Sherwood;

5 grandchildren: Kristi Haynes, Hollie Barnes, Tiffany Tull, T.J. Eakins and Daniel Eakins;
2 step grandchildren: Aron Ellis and Chase Ellis;

6 great grandchildren: Caroline and Chase Haynes, Isabella and Abby Tull and Ryley and Parker Eakins, and arriving in June, Callen Rhea Eakins; and

Several nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 in Emerson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Ward officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Hope Cemetery in Imboden.

Nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include John Marcom, Henry Gschwend, Harry Colbert, Charlie Spradley, Henry Burnett, Lonnie Roberts, and Mark Arnold.

Visitation will be held Friday from noon until service time in Emerson Chapel.
